The Bordeaux vineyard has its origins from the Roman conquest. Indeed from Burdigala to Bordeaux the wine of this region has an eventful past.
In 56 BC, Crassus conquered Burdigala and subdued the Bituriges Vivisques (resident of Burdigala). One of his first actions was to bring back wine from Pompeii, Spain and the Narbonne region.
This is followed by the importation of Biturica (a resistant grape variety) into the region. Wine growing, therefore, began at this time in Bordeaux.
In 71 AD the vines were productive.
In the years that followed, the Bordeaux region became famous for the quality of its wines and became a trading city steeped in wine culture.
5 Centuries of invasions, attacks and destruction brings down the Bordeaux vineyards. But the rise of Christianity, which needs wine for its cults, will perpetuate the Bordeaux vineyards. In 1154 the English became lords of Aquitaine, the fruit of a rich understanding between the people and their sovereign Bordeaux, thus established a monopoly of the production and sale of wine to Great Britain.
Today the vineyards of Bordeaux produce exceptional wines that are recognized worldwide. Its geographical location and its temperatures are indeed adapted to the production of Grands Crus wines.
The vineyards of Bordeaux make this city prestigious as well as the luxury residences which are established there.
