How did this town come into existence?

Daniel Meller, the founder, a financial advisor from Bordeaux who was born in 1863. He traded 1144 Acres of land in La Teste against 353 Acres of state forests.

Pyla sur mer is within a reasonable distance of Bordeaux, approximately a one hour drive.

This seaside resort sits administratively on the commune of La Teste de Buch. However geographically in Pyla, we are close to Arcachon : the neighborhoods of Abatilles and Le Moulleau border onto Pyla sur Mer.
